We have a three-way tie for the winner of this month’s competition, with a score of 78/80:
Li Mingzhe from China,
Lysandra Zheng from New Zealand, and
Milko Slavov from Bulgaria
Li is a 24-year-old graduate who has been playing bridge at the University of Science and Technology of China for over five years. He mainly participates in school competitions. He was also the winner of the March competition, and he outscored all of our experts as this month’s guest panelist.
Lysandra is a 23-year-old graduate student at the University of Auckland who learned bridge in 2015 and started playing tournaments just over a year ago. She says, “I am thankful to my long-term partner, friends, and community for their continued support and encouragement.” Lysandra moves into the lead at the top of the 2024 annual competition with her win this month.
Also on the May Honour Roll are, with a score of 76/80…
Venkatesh Ramaratnam from India,
Paul F Boudreau from USA,
Todd Holes from USA, and
Prahalad Rajkumar from India
…and, with a score of 75/80:
Douglas Dorland from USA,
Dr. Morrie Kleinplatz from Canada,
Anup Duttaroy from India, and
Tim Pan from New Zealand
We have three Americans and three Indians as well as two from New Zealand at the top of this month’s competition, but it is a second win this year for China and Li Mingzhe.
With more than half of the panel scoring in the 60s, this was clearly another tough set, so congratulations to all those scoring in the 60s or 70s.
