RealBridge Bidding Contest – Annual Competition

Leader Board

Two Brits still lead the way. A score of 78/80 keeps Brian at the top of the leader-board, and David’s 76/80 retains second place. Brian’s advantage is now 5 points, and David has an 8-point lead over the rest of the field.

Brian Spears, is a retired pharmacist from West Sussex, England. “I am an avid reader of all things bridge, who loves nothing more than talking bridge with a good friend who was a leading light in computer bridge programming, especially as it’s always over a beer!” says Brian. “No notable achievements, but a desire to continue to learn burns brightly. It’s always a monthly joy to read the expert analysis of the bidding panel hands!!”

But, the Antipodeans are coming - Stephen (75/80) and Alexander (76/80) climb up into third and fourth place. So, too, are the USA – Paul Dubois’s 78/80 lifts him up into fifth place and earns him the status of the leading American. However, it is a close race, as good scores from three other Americans (Chris with 74, Kevin with 75 and Todd 76) have left them all just one point behind Paul. The other Paul (Boudreau) scored a 77/80 this month to lift him into a tie for 10th place, just 3 points behind his fellow Americans.

Another tough set has cut the number of players with an average score of 70/80 or higher from 23 to 20. Illustrating the true international nature of this competition, there are players from 13 different countries in the Top 25. Still a long way to go, as we approach the midway point of the 2025 competition.

The annual score is the total of the best 9 monthly scores over the year.
