This seems to have been another tricky set, with less than 60 players from the 1150 who entered scoring in the 70s. Kudos to our solo winner, with a score of 78/80:
Sameh Makram Ebeid from Egypt
Born in 1952, Sameh is a former member of Egypt's Parliament. He was part of the Egyptian team at the 1980 Olympiad in Valkenberg and, more recently, of his country’s Seniors team in Wroclow and Lyon. He recalls a rare double intra-finesse, reported in the Daily Bulletin, that he executed against the USA team to land a 3NT that others failed to make.
Also on the November Honour Roll, with a score of 75/80, are:
Dave Williams from Wales, and
Koushik Mukherjee from India
And, with a score of 74/80:
Bill March from UK,
Paul Dubois, from San Diego CA, USA,
Joe Clark from UK,
Jon Sorkin from USA,
Peter Lipp from Austria,
Ibrahim El Sebahy from Egypt, and
Robert Vollbracht from USA
Continuing the international nature of this competition, Egypt becomes the 15th country to produce a winning player this year. In all, there are three Americans, three Brits, two Egyptians and one player each from India and Austria on this month’s honour roll.
Congratulations to all those scoring in the 60s or 70s on another fairly tricky set.
