This proved to be the toughest set so far this year, with only 26 players out of more than 1,500 who entered (so less than 2%) scoring in the 70s. That makes our lone winner’s performance even better. With a perfect 80/80, this month’s winner is:
Dror Axelrod from Israel
Dror is a 42-year-old lawyer from Jerusalem. He is married with a son and two daughters. He says, “I have been very fortunate to have my father, Asher, as a bridge partner, and I am thankful for his continued guidance and support".
Also on the August Honour Roll are, with a score of 79/80:
Paul Boudreau from USA
And, with a score of 76/80:
Andy Bowles from England, and
Antonio Palma from Portugal
And, with a score of 75/80:
Stephen Merriman from New Zealand
Dror makes it 17 players who have topped a monthly competition so far this year. Israel takes the number of countries to produce a winner to 13. Netherlands still leads the way, with three wins. USA and China each have two.
Congratulations to all those scoring in the 60s or 70s on a very difficult set of hands
